ROAR
What is ROAR?
ROAR is a cinematic first-person survival horror game set inside a private wildlife conservancy in northern Kenya in 2022. You play as Adam, a wildlife photographer who discovers that the reserve hides a classified experiment that changed lion behavior.
Is ROAR Cup Code’s first game?
Yes. ROAR is currently Cup Code’s first and primary game, and it is the project being promoted across the website and Steam.
What does YOU ARE NOT THE HUNTER mean?
It means the player is not in a position of power. You are not a hunter or a soldier. You are prey trying to survive predators that watch, wait, surround, and strike at the right moment.
Does ROAR have weapons?
ROAR is not built around traditional combat or firearms. The experience focuses on stealth, stamina management, careful flashlight use, environmental reading, and escape.
Do I die instantly if a lion catches me?
Yes. There is no traditional health system. If a lion catches you, the attempt ends. This is central to the game’s survival horror design.
What is Project NEMEAN?
Project NEMEAN is a classified experiment within ROAR’s story. It studies fear response, coordinated hunting behavior, predator decision-making, neurological adaptation, and social learning in lions.
Who or what is ATLAS?
ATLAS is the designation for subject L-01, the first major subject in Project NEMEAN. One archived sentence defines the project: “Subject did not charge blindly. Subject waited.”
Is ROAR open world?
Not in the traditional sense. ROAR is built around interconnected areas within the conservancy, including the lodge, dirt roads, ranger camps, veterinary labs, watchtowers, and hidden underground facilities.
Is ROAR based on a true story?
No. ROAR is entirely fictional. It uses a grounded cinematic setting, but it does not represent a real organization, event, or conservancy.
