Artificial Intelligence Policy

At Cup Code, we view AI as a creative enabler, not a substitute for human judgment. This policy defines our responsible internal AI practices and our approach to AI-generated content from the community.

Part I: Internal AI Use (Development Philosophy)

1) Human-in-the-Loop Principle

  • We use AI tools as productivity assistants for ideation, prototyping, and analytical support.
  • All outputs undergo human review before approval, integration, or publication.
  • Raw AI output is not shipped as final product content without editorial control.

2) Responsible Application Areas

  • Accelerating prototyping and rapid exploration of artistic directions.
  • Automating repetitive tasks to free teams for higher-value creative work.
  • Exploring dynamic in-game systems under strict design and safety controls.

3) Ethical and Legal Commitments

  • Respecting intellectual property rights and avoiding tools with high legal risk.
  • Prioritizing commercially licensed tools with clear terms and data safeguards.
  • Maintaining originality: AI supports ideation but does not replace Cup Code creative identity.

Part II: Policy for User AI-Generated Content (AIGC)

1) Permitted Creative Uses

  • We welcome non-commercial fan creations inspired by our worlds, subject to our asset and conduct policies.
  • AI may be used in fan art and fan fiction, provided rights are respected and no false official association is implied.

2) Strictly Prohibited Uses

  • Cheating, gameplay automation, or manipulation of game systems using AI tools.
  • Impersonation, deceptive deepfakes, or harmful synthetic media.
  • Generating content that promotes hate, harassment, discrimination, or legal violations.
  • Using AI to repackage copyrighted works and present them as original user content.

Part III: Transparency and Forward Commitment

1) Transparency with the Community

When AI plays a direct and material role in player-facing experiences, we aim to disclose that clearly. Background development uses, such as coding assistance, are treated as internal production tools.

2) Future Outlook

We believe AI can support more dynamic worlds and richer interactive storytelling. However, ethical use, human creativity, and respect for creator rights remain the governing principles of all future adoption.
