Transparency in our use of AI

Where we may use AI
These are areas where we may use such tools, as needed — not a list of what every project uses:
- Coding assistance and bug finding.
- Initial research and comparison.
- First drafts and brainstorming.
- Organising information.
- Translation and proofreading.
- Early visual references and testing ideas.
- Analysing non-sensitive data where allowed.
What has been made with AI so far
- Parts of this website’s code and illustrations (the city scene and the drawn CAGEHAUL wordmark) were written with an AI assistant, then reviewed and edited by the developer.
Every asset involving AI is recorded in an internal register noting the tool, type of use, human changes and review status.
What using AI does not mean
Using a tool doesn’t mean its output automatically becomes part of the game or the site. Depending on its type, output goes through:
Generate → Review → Modify → Validate → Approve → Publish
Why we use it
Cup Code Studio is an independent studio run by one developer with limited resources. AI tools reduce time and cost for some repetitive or exploratory work, freeing more time for building, testing and improving the project.
Using them doesn’t remove our responsibility for the final work.
Limits we set
- Personal data: we don’t put visitors’ personal data (such as support messages or privacy requests) into external AI tools.
- Confidential assets: unreleased game files only go to internally approved tools with appropriate settings.
- Core creative decisions (story, characters, overall feel) remain human decisions.
- Rights: every generated asset is reviewed for commercial-use rights before it’s approved for a release.
Different views
We know that AI in creative industries is a topic people disagree on. We respect those concerns, which is why we prefer to explain how we use these tools and where we draw the line.
If our use of these tools doesn’t match your expectations, we understand.
The framework we follow
We follow the general direction of the AI Ethics Principles published by the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA), such as privacy and security, transparency, and accountability. This describes our direction; it is not a claim of certification or official audit.
Updates
Whenever the way we use these tools changes, we update this page and raise its version number.
