Overview

ROAR is a cinematic first-person survival horror game set in the African savanna.

The experience is built on realism and psychological tension where the player becomes prey for an intelligent coordinated lion pack.

Story

You play as Adam, a wildlife photographer who arrives in Africa after booking a luxury safari resort, only to discover a trap with no crew and no signal.

At night the real threat appears: a lion pack that observes, probes, encircles, and attacks with tactical timing.

The story unfolds through environmental exploration, notes and recordings, abandoned traces, and clues pointing to illegal poaching and smuggling networks.

World & Environments

African Savanna

Open spaces with tall grass (Nanite foliage), harsh daytime heat, cold nights, and limited visibility with light fog and dust.

Key Locations

Lodge for the opening, Ranger Camp for tools and clues, Watchtowers for temporary safety, and Dirt Roads for movement and tracking.

AI & Animal Behavior

ROAR core strength: the threat is not one enemy, but a learning collective mind.

  • Pack AI: lions coordinate as a team (Flank / Encircle / Pressure).
  • Perception System: sight, hearing, and directional scent-trail tracking.
  • State Machine: Stalk → Probe → Encircle → Strike.
  • Dynamic Encounters: no two hunts play out the same.

Core Gameplay Systems

Stamina (No Traditional Health)

Fatigue directly impacts speed, breathing, and stability. Sprint and stop decisions are life-or-death.

Flashlight

Your main night visibility tool, but also a beacon that reveals your position. Battery management is critical.

Stealth

Grass partially blocks line of sight. Movement rhythm and noise discipline define survival windows.

Tracking

Footprints, broken grass, and distant sound cues become your primary intelligence layer.

Navigation

No waypoint-heavy guidance. Orientation depends on landmarks, memory, and situational awareness.

Vehicle (Situational)

Limited, tactical use only. The vehicle is not a safe zone and requires precise timing.
